Mo Javaherian brings a wealth of international experience to his understanding and practice of Chinese medicine. He has studied, taught, and practiced acupuncture and herbal medicine in the US, Canada, and China. He is currently a popular professor and clinical supervisor at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego.
After moving to the US at 17, he studied clinical chemistry at Seattle University in Washington, followed by a degree in acupuncture and Chinese medicine from the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental medicine in Seattle. He lived in China for seven years where he obtained a doctorate degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine from Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He met his wife, was married, and enjoyed the birth of his daughter while in China. Dr. Javaherian was involved in various areas of research and treatment modalities, including pain management, weight loss, and the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. As a result of his life experiences, he has become fluent in Mandarin. In 1997, Dr Javaharian was a professor at the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine and at the Michener Institute of Health and Science in Canada, where he taught the art of acupuncture and the power of Chinese herbs. He simultaneously developed a robust private practice, seeing patients with various ailments and pains. Dr Javaharian and his family moved to San Diego in 2005. He presently sees patients in a private practice setting and is a professor at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. He enjoys classical music, painting, reading, food, and traveling.
