What to expect Orthopaedics is the area of medicine which deals with the musculoskeletal system, including ligaments, joints, bones, muscles, tendons, and nerves. Our orthopaedic specialists
(often referred to as Orthopedic Surgeons) treat many problems associated with these areas, while caring for the well-being of the patient as a whole. All AOSM orthopaedic surgeons are Board Certified. Our physicians take the time to evaluate your condition and will insure that you understand your diagnosis completely and all your questions are answered
- from arthroscopy to your surgical procedure. This individualized attention is the backbone to our clinical approach to patient care. You will be greeted and treated by a Board Certified Orthopaedic surgeon at each and every visit, who will take his time in addressing your individual concerns. We have made a conscious decision to not utilize physician assistants or nurse practitioners in our practice, in order to maximize the patient-physician interaction. Based on your evaluation, you may be x-rayed on the spot or have a more complex imaging session scheduled (i.e., MRI or CT scan). At times, a particular blood test may be ordered. Either way, a specific course of treatment will be determined based on your goals. Recommended treatment may involve conservative therapies such as medications and soft tissue techniques (physical therapy, acupuncture, or other modalities), or it may involve surgical intervention such as arthroscopy and other surgical procedures. Regardless of the alternative treatment options offered to you, you are an active participant in the process. The process of ‘shared decision-making’ is very important to us. |
