Spine The spine provides structural support to the body and encases the spinal cord. A normally functioning spine is pain-free and undergoes significant motion to allow you to engage in everyday activities such as bending, lifting, looking overhead or even simply shaking your head. When it comes to high impact sports and more mature patients, the spine becomes even more vulnerable. Back pain can result and become even disabling if there is a spine injury or when its function is impaired. AOSM physicians work with patients from all walks of life and their families to improve their well-being by addressing the root cause of the underlying issues that led to the pain or spinal disorders by utilizing innovative approaches to diagnosis, treatment, physical therapy and patient education. AOSM’s spine treatment team has extensive experience in the diagnosis and care of all adult and pediatric spinal disorders, including management of cervical, thoracic and lumbar disk herniations, spinal cord compression, spine instability, trauma, tumors, infections and scoliosis. We incorporate conservative measures (ie, medication, physical therapy, hydrotherapy, various soft tissue techniques) and operative measures to create the right treatment combination to alleviate you spine pain or neurologic deficit.
If you have been told that you ‘need’ surgery, we invite you to chat with our specialists or physical therapists to see if there may be alternatives that are as equally or more effective in relieving your pain.
